Join us for our October 2023 Reading!

We will be back indoors with our friends at Dog-Eared Cafe! Join us to hear writers Kaiya Ajmera, David Beasley, Emma Johnston, Mabe Kyle, and Aleria McKay read their original work.

BOOKS will be available for direct purchase from the presenters.

FOOD & DRINKS will be available for purchase from the venue.

FREE PUBLIC PARKING is available throughout Downtown Paris.

Kaiya Ajmera is a high school student and an avid reader. Ask her about her favourite book, and you'll discover she can never quite settle on one. She dreams of writing stories that captivate her audience and publishing best-selling novels. Outside of her fantasy world, she's a master of dad jokes, a travel enthusiast, tennis player, and adventurous foodie at heart.

David Richard Beasley lives in Simcoe Ontario. Born Canadian he lived in Europe and Manhattan for 40 years, has a PhD in political economics, worked at the New York Public Research Libraries and was president of the union of library workers. He wrote over a score of books in all genres including biographies, particularly of Canada’s first novelist, historical novels, particularly Sarah’s Journey, a trilogy of detective novels set in NYC, a political-economic study of the automobile, light social novels, short stories, Episodes and Vignettes: an Autobiography. He was awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal for his writings.  (www.davuspublishing.com)

Mabe Kyle

Maker of poetry, pottery, and photography who loves being creative.

Adventurer who calls many places home across borderlines. 

Builder of communities who enjoys being active.

Embracing friends, family, and their neurodivergent mind.

Keener for desserts served at every meal with the sweetest tooth you may find.

Yearning for disability justice and liberation for the collective.

Learning how to express gratitude and be kind.

Embodying a life without binaries who is very introspective.

Aleria McKay comes from a Haudenosaunee & Teme Augama Anishnabai mother and Red River Métis & Dene Tha father. She was raised on Six Nations of the Grand River and is proud to call her community home. Aleria holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Indigenous Studies and is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Education. A poet and playwright, her past works include And She Split The Sky in Two and Thunderstorms. Her most recent poetry collection, Sweetgrass & Cigarettes, was released in early 2023. Aleria is passionate about animals, pageants, and escape rooms.
